Boarding Schools

Mostly these schools are Public Schools – private schools without any financial help from the state. They have to compete with other schools on a large and free market and therefore, the quality of the product “education” becomes a decisive measure of success for these schools. Hence, only the best schools offering the most qualified education can survive.
Supplementary, a good education stands for intensive care of the pupils. In most cases, private boarding schools are those to reach this goal.
Classes consisting
of 15 – 20 pupils in the Senior School are normal.
In the Lower Sixth, there is a ratio of 1 to 8 between teachers and students. Teaching is based on a National Curriculum with Government proposals. At the end, there are centrally organised examinations supervised by a regional Examination Board.
Besides the mandatory regular lessons, a boarding school offers a wide range of sporting activities – sports are part of the regular day routine. Furthermore, there are several offers for creative activities at all schools. Additionally, there is a com-munity service compulsory for pupils at many schools. Pupils can choose whether to take part in such a community service or the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) or Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme – all activities to train leader-ship abilities.
The aim of education at a boarding school is to promote

each single student as a whole person: life in a community brings up tolerance, considerateness, discipline, independence, and self-responsibility – all based on a highly academic level.

Attention: During the holidays we offer a lot of possibilities for intensive English language summer courses in a number of our selected boarding schools or in specific Summer Schools.
